What is your role at Ada Mode?
I’m currently working as a Graduate Data Scientist, having just finished my degree in Electronic Engineering with Artificial Intelligence from the University of Southampton.
What does an average day look like for you?
I’ve only recently just started but because I’m encouraged to get stuck in and contribute as much as I can, every day is different. I’m currently working on implementing agentic AI into our internal SDK and hopefully will be working with the UKAEA in supporting their nuclear fusion efforts.
What was the driving force for your interest in this industry, what advice would you give to other graduates wanting a career in this field?
In the current climate, making the most of nuclear energy is important and I’m grateful to be working with an extremely passionate team that shares the same goal. Something I’ve learnt since starting is that there is always something to learn about nuclear energy or AI, so my advice is to have an inquisitive mind and be open to learning.
Everyone at Ada Mode shares the same passion for tech. What about AI technology are you most passionate about?
I’m really interested in learning more about how AI runs on hardware; As AI becomes more integrated into our daily lives, I’m passionate about how we can make AI accessible to more people by running on a wide range of different devices.
Where do you see the industry heading in the next 3-5 years?
That’s a good question! From the talks I’ve had with everyone at Ada Mode, I see a growing demand for legislation to ensure transparency with how AI is being used safely in nuclear. As more people realise the importance of nuclear energy, safe legislation and digital twins will be increasingly valuable for wide adoption.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When I’m not working, I enjoy unwinding by staying active; I’m an avid rugby player but have also gotten into squash and surfing recently! If I’m not playing sports, you can probably find me on various side quests – most recently, it’s been stand-up comedy.

Rob Dixon wants to know: Coming from a research background, what ML or AI developments are you most excited about that have yet to be widely adopted in industry, but which you believe will have a big impact in the years ahead?
I’m quite intrigued to see how Joint Embedding Predictive Architectures (JEPA) evolve and learn meaningful representations from data without relying on labeled examples. I’m most excited to see whether World Models can accelerate the EPR and SMR design process.
