Senior Engineer (NW)

Role Overview

The Senior Engineer will lead the development of Ada Mode's North West UK office and provide expert digital development services to clients, ensuring effective oversight and delivery of customer projects. You will act as a key interface between the client and project teams, manage technical deliverables, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and drive quality and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, you will support Ada Mode's growth by identifying new business opportunities, building client relationships, and contributing to proposal development and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities


Engineering Management:

  • Technical Oversight: Lead technical projects and act as the primary interface between the client and the project team.
  • Project Management: Coordinate Ada Mode delivery teams to ensure high quality delivery, on schedule to budget.
  • Risk and Change Management: Identify, assess, and manage technical risks and change requests, ensuring effective governance and resolution processes.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work with project team, client teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to maintain alignment and resolve technical or contractual conflicts.


Business Development:

  • Establish and lead Ada Mode's NW office: Build Ada Mode's NW presence and plan team recruitment.
  • Client Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, identifying their needs and promoting consultancy services.
  • Opportunity Identification: Support the identification of new business opportunities within the nuclear sector and related industries.
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to the preparation of bids, proposals, and tenders, ensuring alignment with client requirements and showcasing the consultancy’s capabilities
  • Market Insights: Stay informed of industry trends and developments, providing strategic input to enhance the consultancy’s service offerings
  • Networking: Represent the consultancy at industry events, conferences, and meetings to build the company’s profile and develop new connections.


Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering and/or digital project management within the nuclear or similarly regulated industry (e.g., energy, aerospace, or infrastructure).
  • Knowledge of the civil nuclear sector including generation, decommissioning, new build and associated technology (e.g. robotics, manufacturing).
  • Degree in engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or nuclear) or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartered status.
    Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
  • Business development experience, including client engagement, proposal writing, or strategic planning.
  • Based in the North West

Desirable Skills

  • Digital/software/robotics project management and development skills
  • Knowledge of North West hubs, particularly those associated with the nuclear industry.
